Does Microsoft Want You to Forget Windows 8?

Microsoft has always been appreciated by users for bringing up new directions and technologies with an aim to simplify computing experience. Starting from MS DOS to Windows 2000, then XP, Vista, Windows 7, and many others, the company has always carved a niche for itself in the OS market. Owing to its easy-to-use interface and incorporation of new technology and features, users have always welcomed their system software with a great trust and commitment. But, the recent Windows experience has changed the entire market reputation of the company as Windows 8 has been criticized on a greater extent.

Initially, developed with an aim to be a user interactive platform for Windows-powered slates and other mobile devices, the Windows 8 OS was later offered as an OS on mainstream PCs. The company designed the market strategy in such a way that users should get impressed with the introduction of touch-screen feature in mainframe computers, but users nowadays are smart enough to discard the thought. Introduced with modern UI, metro tiled interface, multi-touch gestures, and many other advanced features, the system software was critically evaluated for eliminating the most prominent feature - the Start Screen.

As per the latest information available, Microsoft started developing Windows 9 or Threshold, just after the company started experiencing downfall in its sales report. It is estimated that the company will introduce its upcoming OS with all the features and technological advancements that were missing in Windows 8 editions. The company’s spokesperson clearly stated that the new and improved OS will bring back all the features that are necessary to enhance the desktop user experience. He further added that the OS will be made available with an option to switch to the touch-screen interface.

Considering the market strategies and product positioning plans in mind, Microsoft announced that the Windows 9 will be the next step to simplify user experience specially for mainframe computing. Set to be officially released in April 2015, the Threshold project is expected to dish out the entire Windows 8 experience. It can be seen that Microsoft has already started talking tacitly about this new OS and that will slowly force users to entirely forget about the annoying Windows 8 experience.

Owing to the radically changing policies of the company, it is expected that it will throw Windows 8 out of the picture with the help of a better successor. In the previous incidents, the company quickly erased the bitter memories of Windows Vista by releasing Windows 7, which was focused on enhancing productivity rather than incorporating features.

Following its previous trends, Microsoft is expected to grey-out the Windows 8 experience with an introduction of Windows 9 preview, during Q4 of 2014. Released with some of the advanced features such as incorporation of both Desktop and Metro apps, a new Start menu, ability to pin Metro apps to the desktop, and many others, the Windows 9 is expected to help Microsoft to regain its market share in the worldwide OS market.

Well the next version is expected to roll-out in April 2015, till then users and developers can test the preview version of Windows 9 and suggest feedback to improve it!
