Google Play: A unified digital content store launched by Google

March 7, 2012 became a remarkable day in the history of technology, as many announcements were made by Apple and Google. The announcement of the new iPad from Apple in California was followed by the Google’s announcement about Google Play, the new digital content store. The store has been named as Google Play due to its inclination towards wholesome entertainment and fun. The store will offer its consumers a one-stop and integrated marketplace for music, movies, books, apps and games and other online digital media content. Consumers can discover, explore and buy all or any of these items at Google Play.

There is a valid reason to call Google Play a unified and one-stop destination because it fulfills your entire digital entertainment requirement through a single window. Google Play works with the existing Android Market apps store of the company and other content stores inclusive of Google Music and Google eBookstore.

An official blog post of Google reported that Google Play is entirely cloud based. Therefore music, movies, books and apps can be stored online and will always remain available to consumers. This was revealed by Jamie Rosenberg, director of digital content at Google. Rosenberg also wrote that the consumers need not to worry at all about losing or moving these digital contents again.

Google Play has been designed intelligently to make it convenient for the consumers to access their favorite movies, music and other digital content online. This has been introduced by Google to reinforce the competition with technology giants like Apple and Amazon. As you all know that iTunes is Apple’s online digital content store but it is not as comprehensive as Google Play.

Google Play is a cloud-based content store, so consumers can store as many as 20,000 songs for free and also buy millions of new songs, said Rosenberg. You get to enjoy more benefits and facilities with Google Play as compared to other online digital content stores.

The store features amazing storage capacity and offers more than 450,000 Android apps and games. Google Play has the largest selections of e-books in the world and also offers thousands of movies that users can download, browse or rent.

Google Play has started its operation on the web with its launch on March 7. However it will soon roll out the upgraded facility for smartphones or tablets running on the Android operating system from Google. So discover and share your favorite music, movies, books and apps on Google Play with your friends. Playing music with Google Play is very simple because music selected by you gets automatically stored in your Google Play music library.
